Before you buy this stroller for it's looks..., November 11, 2010 By This review is from: phil&teds Smart Buggy Compact Stroller, Black (Baby Product) As a design professional, I have to admit to occasionally bowing to the aesthetic qualities of a product and paying more for it as a result. Phil & Ted's products commonly possess this strong visual attractiveness, but it is normally married with strong industrial design principles that make for an innovative and user-friendly experience. With the "smart" stroller however, something went wrong.
Most of the issues my wife and I have with the smart relate to the position of the swing pivot, which is too high. This causes two problems:
Firstly, it is difficult to maneuver off curbs; a high pivot position makes it very difficult to swing the stroller back (the natural motion for negotiating curbs and steps.)
Secondly, it is difficult to fold; most strollers utilize a lower pivot position so that when you release the locking mechanism gravity does the rest and the chair "wants" to fold. With the smart you have to tip the chair right back in order for this to... Read more

nice one.... but...., June 18, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: phil&teds Smart Buggy Compact Stroller, Black (Baby Product) I've been waiting for this stroller since Jan 2010 and finally its out in the market now (June 2010)! So as the first 'brave' one to review this, here's what i can say...
1) assembly is no brainer! I dont even need to read the manual. But you still have to as you might miss some steps.
2) If 'lightweight' means an umbrella stroller for you, then this Smart buggy is not for you. This is still kindda heavy specially once you have attached the wheels. So lifiting it to/from your car's trunk still needs your 2 strong muscular arms. But if you have the usual 'travel system' of other strollers or those bugaboo - ha! you should be strong enough for this new one.
3) folding/unfolding is very easy (the front wheels are just wiggly when folding). Note that you CANNOT store it standing, unless it is leaning on something steady. It should be laid flat like in your car.
4) yes its very easy to maneuver. Note that the front wheels dont lock.

However, I couldn't find the maximum weight capacity in the amazon.com so I searched on Phil and Ted official web site. [...] It said the buggy can accommodate up to 44 pounds but when I got the product, it said in the outside box, it can accommodate 33 pounds only. The recline part is very very uncomfortable which I don't understand whey they had to make it that way. The seat is little narrow on the baby's leg side making it uncomfortable to seat for a long time. Also, the soft plastic seat will feel very cold in the winter without some additional cusion, also smells bad.
I'm returning this product.
